Eight-episode limited television series
Just a Cigar
Logline: When a clinical research scientist discovers that an experimental anxiety drug creates perfectly vivid, lucid dreams, she becomes enamored with her charismatic dream lover, who grows increasingly cruel and controlling as her grip on reality collapses.
Just a Cigar is about drug addiction, domestic abuse, and the pharmaceutical industry's relentless pursuit of profit. It's screamingly funny.
The series walks a fine line, never minimizing the seriousness of its themes, but uses the medium of comedy to present these uncomfortable subjects without overwhelming viewers with despair. The goal was to make them laugh a lot, and maybe cry a little.
Just a Cigar is a completed eight-episode limited series for which I am currently seeking literary representation and production.
